The
Quest for Soil Fertility:
Nothing In Nature Is Isolated Eons
ago, when dinosaurs dominated the Earth, all life forms that
supported prehistoric animals and plants were gargantuan in both
size and power. The modern day grower must ask himself “What made
the soils of the Earth so super-productive back then?” After
pondering and study, this curiosity reveals that the virgin
fertility system of life was operating in full force and
magnificence... The prehistoric soils of
our mysteriously lively planet abounded with magnetically charged
minerals released by geo-thermal activity. The magnetic balance of
these highly mineralized soils created a force field that held soil
particles suspended in a highly efficient “soil food web.” Because
of this magnetic aeration, oxygen had the ability to circulate
freely amongst these highly charged soil particles. Naturally, the
aerobic beneficial biological life forms of bacteria and fungi
flourished within these soil food webs.
The activity of bacteria and fungi in the soil is crucial to plant
life; they perform the same digestion functions for plants as do the
bacteria that thrives in the human intestines. Bacteria and fungi
break down organic matter into available nutrients while they
simultaneously dissolve minerals for absorption by the plant’s root
system. The high concentration of available oxygen in these
structural networks made possible the flawless operation of aerobic
plant food digestion. The result of this dynamic soil fertility
system yielded highly energized, healthy animals and plants which
thrived without modern growing technology.
As the Earth continues to evolve, the virgin
fertility system of the soil is drastically diminished by chemical
and natural mineral erosion . The depletion of the soil’s magnetic
mineral balance leads to the collapse of the flawlessly operating
soil food web of oxygen and aerobic biological life.
Like all things in life, healthy soil is dictated
by four dimensions which are the following: Magnetic Balance,
Mineral Balance, Oxygen Circulation and Biological Balance.
Nothing in nature can be isolated. The above four forces are
dependent upon each other to build the living structure of the soil
food web. Each force is of equal importance - not one of these
aspects can be maintained by itself. To isolate one of these
dimensions from the other results in the destruction of the soil and
its life-promoting properties.
Therefore, the issue to be stressed is that there is more to soil
fertility than the one-dimensional approach of “N-P-K.” Although
nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are important, they are but mere
ingredients. When applied to the soil, without an evaluation of the
four primary dimensions of the soil food web, soil will become
stressed and the outcome will be plant stress. Stress reduces the
Bio-Energetic health of the plant; making it susceptible to diseases
and pests. Ultimately, disease and pest infestation leads to death
of the plant. And directly beneath that dead plant lies a diseased
soil that does not have the fertility to support the life cycle.
The support of the life cycle is the goal of soil
fertility management. The intricate understanding of soil fertility
and plant growth mechanics has been our quest at BioGreen for the
past eighteen years. As pioneers in the non-toxic approach to lawn
and tree care service, we have not isolated the dynamics of the soil
food web. It has been our goal to support the life cycle every step
of the way. Consequently, we address the four dimensions of healthy
soil structure in order to preserve the “Web of Life” that nature
supports. As a result of this
philosophy, we have had the hands-on opportunity through our lawn
and tree care service to develop a product line that services the
soil food web for all aspects of the growing industry. Through our
practical field experience, we have become the manufacturer of the
most progressive and effective soil fertility products on the market
today. Back in 1980, we were pioneers in the development of humates
and seaweeds long before it was the trend. Out of the necessity to
create products that address the deficiencies in the soil food web
of urban and commercial landscapes, we have also designed the
fertility programs that instruct the grower on exactly how to use
them. Thus, it is our intent to offer
the modern day grower the most superior products, in conjunction
with the most complete understanding of soil fertility applications.
We aim to completely equip you with what you need to address the
fertility requirements of your specific soil food web.
We present to you years of fertility management
expertise so that you may develop the Bio-Rational approach to soil
fertility and plant growth using tested Bio-Energetic products.
Every aspect of this catalog constantly considers and weighs the
four dimensions of a healthy soil structure - Magnetic Balance,
Mineral Balance, Oxygen Circulation and Biological Balance. When
these four forces of growth are established in the proper ratio to
each other, plant growth is optimally healthy and naturally
resistant to disease and pests. We
specifically pinpoint biological balance so that you may know your
soil’s required bacteria to fungi ratio like the back of your hand .
For instance, your soil must be dominated by Mycorrhizal fungi to
transplant trees and shrubs; your soil must be balanced with
bacteria and fungi to maintain bed plantings; your soil must be
dominated by bacteria to establish healthy turf. Biological balance
is that basic and essential.
You, too, will now have the power to transform your soil into the
amplifier of energy and biological life that is required for healthy
Bio-Energetic growth. As you venture into this field of practical
application, you join an expanding network of professional growers
who align themselves with BioGreen. We develop the products and
programs for fertility management consultants who work with Golf
Courses, organic vegetable, fruit and fiber growers.
We are encouraged about the fact that more people
are “making the connection” between soil health and human health. As
this trend gains momentum, BioGreen continues the quest for soil
fertility through healthy, non-toxic agriculture and horticulture.
We are proud to supply our products and programs for the ever
increasing, popular demand. As far as
Bio- Green is concerned we don’t even want to associate our name
with the Word Organic because it has become the most abused word in
our American Dictionary by the Market exploiters.
The term for what Bio- Green produces is Bio-Energetics,
which promotes a living soil that promotes healthy lawns, Trees,
Shrubs, Flowers and Food crops by creating a non-hostile environment
where life can flourish and humans and animals can live and play.
Bio- Green has been a pioneer in developing
quality natural and balanced plant food products for 26 years. We
are part of the Bio-logical Sustainable movement in this USA that
has been championing the growing of Natural Organic foods plus that
same care for our landscape environments. The voices have been heard
and now there is a huge market for these type foods & the fertilizer
products that grow them. Unfortunately, the Mass Marketers have
arrived to confuse the buyer so they can cash in.
In the Eyes of the Public the Word organic
fertilizer means the product is safe and environmentally friendly
and because a huge market has developed for Organic Fertilizers.
Marketers by the hundreds have come upon the scene with Organic
Fertilizer products to cash in on the demand.
The Word “Organic “ means that something contains
Carbon. The study of Organic Chemistry is the study of componds that
contain carbon. Here is a partial list of chemicals that contain
carbon. Gasoline, Kerosene, Alcohol,
Urea, Formaldehyde, 2-4D weed killer, Agent Orange, Ureaform,
Methylene Urea, organo phosphate insecticides (such as dursban,
Melethion, Diazinon ), and the list goes on and on.
For a label to claim that the product inside is
Organic all it must contain is something containing Carbon.
Here is an example of an Organic Fertilizer that
a very large company came out with that literally captured the
market in the Chicagoland area in the Spring of 2004. It had a high
analysis, meaning it didn’t take much to get the job done plus very
cheap to buy because price is usually the primary concern– Landscape
maintenance companies brought it by the truck loads for fertilizing
lawns where the Customers demanded Orgainc fertilization.
NPK analysis of 22-2-5 — Application rate was 3.5 to 4.5 lbs. Per
1000 sq.ft. of lawn. Cost 12.00 to $ 14.00 per 50 lb. Bag. It was
the primary Organic fertilizer sold in many garden centers.
Spring results gave very fast greenup and the
lawns needed mowing twice a week because they grew like mad. As soon
as Summer heat set in these lawns showed up with summer patch,
fusarium and other fungal diseases which could only be controlled
with frequent fungicide applications. Hot weather fertilizing with
this stuff increased disease and other damaging insect problems.
To create a living soil where plants grow healthy
and strong you need to
create a non-hostile living soil environment where it can happen. |
